2) Clutter
Don’t be a hoarder – when it comes to video marketing, minimalism is the way to go. Trying to shoehorn too many messages, products or CTAs into one video makes it chaotic and dilutes your objective.
Simplify things by sticking to one key message per video, talk to one clear persona, sell one benefit and keep it simple.
3) Talking to everyone
Absolutely be bold and be creative, but also be laser-focused. Your audience will respond far better to a video that feels like it’s talking directly to them, rather than something that’s trying to be everything to everyone.
By being laser-focused, you’re able to ensure that your message feels relevant to the correct audience. Relevancy is critical in video, because most people will think that marketing messages are NOT aimed at them… it’s our job to quickly persuade them otherwise! Relevancy can be created in an instant with a visual cue, it can be built up using tone and pace, and it can be quickly lost by using the wrong copy or voice over.
Understanding your customers priorities in life, the challenges they’re facing and the problems you can solve for them allows you to make a video that really resonates. Remember to make sure you create the video for them, not for you, as they’re the ones you’re talking to!
