As a video agency, do we think AI replace us? We’re obviously biased, but no.
It’s actually it’s a great tool for the toolbelt – if you know how to use it properly. We’re able to use the tools a lot better than someone else who hasn’t got the skills that we’ve built over the last 20 years.
If you’re a video creator, you should be using AI now. If you hate it, I’d change industries, because it’s not going anywhere!
Will AI stop us hiring new staff? Probably not, but it will replace the really junior roles. Jobs like backing up, cutting up and organising footage can be done super easily now with the help of AI. However, it’s not yet very good at putting edits together at a comprehensive level; that’s where the professionals come in.
For young people looking to enter the industry, where we used to recommend getting a camera and filming as much as possible, now we’d say to invest in AI software and keep creating. The more you can wrap you head around how prompts work, the more you can start to be creative in this new way.
We’ve been working with AI tools to create video content for around a year now, and the biggest thing we’ve learned is that you need to plan what you’re doing before you start. Have an idea, draw it out on paper, and create those all-important initial concept images. Once you have that, then it’s time to start to create your AI video content.
A common pitfall of AI is hallucinations; if you don’t give it a precise and detailed prompt, it’ll make assumptions, and often they’re quite rogue. You end up with a doorhandle in the middle of a pumpkin. This is where the planning, strategy and creative direction come is, as well as crafting the right prompts to create a video that gets real impact for your business.
The most time consuming part of the work now with AI is the pre-production and the planning, but the finished result can be achieved far quicker.
